The Mustard Seed
This painting depicts the kingdom of heaven, where a small mustard seed grows to become a tree and provide shade for the birds in the sky. There are three birds in the painting, representing the Holy Trinity. I also reference the parable that if one has the faith the size of a mustard seed, he can move mountains. The person sitting under a mustard tree in prayer has this faith. His hands are in the Anjali-Mudra pose and his legs are crossed, which is a traditional Indian meditation pose. Notice that the man does not have a lot of jewelry since he is not divine but an ordinary man reaching out to God.
